If you are looking for a kit to mount a Saginaw 800 or 808 steering box to your next project we have you covered. This kit is designed from a combination of 1/4" steel plate, DOM heavy wall tubing, and grade 8 hardware to make mounting your steering gear a breeze. This kit is designed to be used with steering boxes that were used on multiple models over a large year range, see below for some applications. This kit is designed around a frame rail that is 2-1/2" wide and 4" tall, however it can be used on many other sizes of frames. Holes will need to be drilled through your frame rail for the DOM sleeves, then the plates and sleeves will need to be welded in place. This kit is compatible with 4 mounting hole or 3 mounting hole steering gears. If you are doing a power steering conversion on a vehicle this kit will save you time and money.
- Compatible with Saginaw 800 or 808 steering boxes
- Welding is required
- Can be used with 3 or 4 hole castings
- Bolt and DOM sleeve length may need to be modified to fit your application
Some applications that used this steering box
1997-2002 Jeep TJ, 1984-2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ, Jeep FSJ J trucks and Wagoneers, Many GM cars and trucks, etc. The main difference between the steering gears are the input shaft spline, the type of ports for the power steering pump, and the bore size. Some boxes had different maximum angles due to internal stops, be sure to research which box is correct for your application.
Some popular part numbers for the steering gear are Lares 10970, 19072, 11353.
