Frame Chop Tips And Tricks

Frame Chop Tips And Tricks

In the Jeep world today, frame chop bumpers are becoming more and more of a normality. Approach and departure angle gains are as wanted as cocaine in the 80's. This is not a blog post on why you need a frame chop, if you'd like to know either look in the description of one of our listings or give us a call. This blog post is for the people considering buying a frame chop, but aren't sure that they are able to do it themselves.

Rest assured it's not too difficult if you have the right equipment. Again, this is not an install, but a "here's what we do" section.

1) Use The Right Tools

First things first, get all your tools in line. You'll need a good sawzall, grinder, and some measuring tools. Personally we find the sawzall the best tool to make a long deep cut, and then to come back and clean it up with a grinder. Something that will make this process smooth as butter is using the right blades. We will now share with you the golden unicorn of sawzall blades..

This is a diablo sawzall blade. One of these bad boys will set you back anywhere between $10-20 depending on the type and length you get. Some things you need to pay attention to are what the blade is made to cut, and how long the blade is. You will obviously need a blade that is made to cut thicker metal, and a blade that can cut all the way through a frame horn in one pass. These babies will make this job easier than you thought it could be.

2) Measure Once, Cut Twice?

?Yes you heard that right. Typically measuring for chopping your frame is a stressful process that is easy to mess up. But luckily for you, we supply some awesome little gauges that make this process fool proof. Just hook your body mount, mark your holes, and scribe the front of it for your cut line.

3) Be Confident

Remember that at the end of the day, any mess up can be fixed. We've tried to make this process as easy as possible and want you to have as much confidence as you possibly can to make this process happen. We believe that we've made the best looking and most functional frame chop bumper on the market. So if you're interested in purchasing one, click on the image below!
